Dale Steyn’s big prediction, Vaibhav Suryavanshi will become a bigger superstar than Sachin-Kohli
Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn believes that young Indian batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi can achieve bigger achievements than Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli by the end of his career.
Suryavanshi performed brilliantly in IPL 2026 and won the Orange Cap by scoring 776 runs. After this, he has also been included in the Indian T20 team for the tour of Ireland and England.
Steyn said in a conversation organized by SA20 before the fifth season, “Suryavanshi is a player of a different level. He is better than many international players right now. He is a ‘boy wonder’ and a treasure for Indian cricket.”
He further said, if we talk about legends like Sachin and Kohli, this child can become even bigger than them in future. But it is important that it is handled properly, because with great responsibility comes great caution. If it is not managed properly we may even lose it.
Steyn said that Suryavanshi’s biggest strength is his ability to hit even the best bowling with ease.
He said, he is an excellent ball striker.
He has taken advantage of the good wickets and small grounds in India very well. He is a very talented batsman.
Steyn, who has taken 699 wickets in international cricket, believes that he can be stopped with the right strategy.
He said, if a little fear is created inside the batsman then he can be controlled. ”
He said, “(Kagiso) Rabada bowled well against him. He will have to be tested with bouncer balls and he is still very young, only 14-15 years old. If you can add a little ‘fear element’ to the game then cricket is really a game where It plays an important role.
He said, …if you enter the game with fear, that is, you feel afraid of any player, then the fear of bowling or batting can also force you to take wrong decisions.
Therefore short ball can be a good option against him.
This 42 year old former player also praised 37 year old legend Virat Kohli.
He said, Kohli’s mental level and hunger to perform consistently makes him special. He has the same self-motivation that the players of my time also had.
On changing T20 cricket, Steyn said that bowlers will have to learn to use the right ball at the right time along with variety.
Giving the example of Afghanistan bowler Fazalhaq Farooqui, he said that he has a lot of skills, but the real challenge is when and how to use them.
