Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed the top spot in the ICC T20I batting rankings after his record-breaking century against New Zealand, while fellow Indian Sanju Samson climbed six places to 20th in the latest rankings.
Abhishek, who scored a blistering century in the third T20I against New Zealand, returned to the top with 897 rating points, overtaking Ishan Kishan. Kishan had displaced Abhishek from the No 1 position in July, but slipped to third after missing the second and third T20Is due to injury.
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan moved to second place. India captain Shreyas Iyer dropped five places from fourth to ninth, while Tilak Varma retained 10th position. Samson made a notable gain, moving up six places to 20th.
Jansen tops Test bowling and all-rounder rankings
South Africa’s Marco Jansen emerged as the biggest gainer in the latest ICC rankings, reaching the top of both the Test bowling and Test all-rounder lists.
Jansen’s rise followed an impressive performance in the ongoing Test series against Australia. He claimed 10 wickets across the first two Tests and contributed crucial runs, overtaking Australia’s Mitchell Starc in the bowling rankings and India’s Ravindra Jadeja in the all-rounder standings.
Jadeja’s fall means he has lost the No 1 position among Test all-rounders for the first time in nearly four years.
Bavuma rises to second in Test batting rankings
South African captain Temba Bavuma also made significant progress, climbing four places to second in the Test batting rankings after scoring 179 in the second Test against Australia. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award, putting him just behind England’s Harry Brook.
Brook, meanwhile, climbed six places to eighth in the ODI batting rankings after smashing 202 runs against Sri Lanka in the ODI tri-series in Pakistan.
India captain Shubman Gill continues to lead the ODI batting rankings, with Virat Kohli in third place and Rohit Sharma fourth.
