Cancer medicine prices cut: NPPA releases revised MRPs for 543 brands, effective November 9

New Delhi: The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has released revised maximum retail prices for 543 brands of anti-cancer medicines. The new rates will take effect from November 9, 2026, the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers said in a release issued through PIB on Wednesday.

The authority prepared the list using information that companies submitted up to October 27. It will update the list as manufacturers provide revised prices for additional non-scheduled anti-cancer medicines. NPPA functions under the Department of Pharmaceuticals. The revised prices follow its decision to rationalise trade margins on 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer drugs.

Several brands see sharp price reductions

The examples published in the release show substantial cuts across several brands and pack sizes.

A pack of 10 Anarzole tablets, containing anastrozole 1 mg, will cost Rs 73 against the earlier MRP of Rs 695.76. RPG Life Sciences manufactures the brand.

The revised MRP of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories’ Azacytin, an azacitidine 100 mg injection, stands at Rs 1,495.04, down from Rs 6,337. Abbott Healthcare’s Bevacizab, a bevacizumab 100 mg/4 ml injection, will cost Rs 5,930.13 for a 4 ml vial. Its earlier MRP was Rs 21,767.70.

Trade margin changes aim to improve access

NPPA announced trade margin rationalisation for 137 non-scheduled anti-cancer drugs on October 17. The ministry said the measure sought to address excessive trade margins, reduce treatment costs and improve access. Manufacturers had to submit their revised prices to the authority.

The covered medicines include immunotherapies used to treat more than 20 types of cancer. The ministry also listed denosumab, pegfilgrastim and bevacizumab among the drugs covered. Patients can access the complete list of 543 brands and their revised MRPs on the NPPA portal, which the authority will update regularly.
