Kieron Pollard unavailable for SA20, informs Joburg Super Kings of his decision

New Delhi: Kieron Pollard has informed the Joburg Super Kings (JSK) management of his unavailability for the upcoming SA20 season, reports Cricbuzz. and communicated his decision to the Johannesburg-based franchise a day later, which is a South African subsidiary of .

Interestingly, the MI management also owns MI Cape Town, a franchise competing in the same league with JSK. Pollard’s decision avoided a potential awkward situation that could have triggered unwanted confusion. However, the MI management had no objection to Pollard playing for another franchise in a different league.

“It’s up to KP on the matter. We have given no instructions,” an MI source told Cricbuzz. Joburg Super Kings secured Pollard’s services for R1.5 million at the SA20 auction earlier this month after the MI Cape Town management decided not to bid for him.

They bought Shimron Hetmyer for the same amount, triggering a stunned reaction across the cricketing fraternity, particularly among the franchise circuit. Pollard had never featured for any franchise other than MI and its subsidiaries in a league where they have a presence.
