Rahul Gandhi Is Our Inspiration, Not Bangladesh: Pawan Khera

While the Congress party remains firm on its demand for a regime change, it has distanced itself from the remarks of its new “poster girl,” Neha Bora, who thanked Bangladesh for inspiring her.

Facing heavy criticism from the BJP, including Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who slammed the Congress and other opposition parties for demanding a regime change and using terms such as “resistance” and “perseverance,” Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said on Friday that the party did not need inspiration from outside India. He added that the party did not subscribe to Neha Bora’s remarks.

Khera said modern Indian history had shown that the Congress had always had great icons who served as its inspiration. The latest source of inspiration, he added, was Rahul Gandhi.

He said it was the RSS and the BJP that lacked icons and kept looking elsewhere for them, citing Sardar Patel and others, whereas the Congress had no dearth of icons.

Maintaining that there was nothing wrong with demanding a regime change, he said those who opposed it were anti-national.

It remains to be seen whether the Congress will continue to distance itself from Neha Bora or allow her to remain its “poster girl.”
