West Bengal Government Will Auction The Assets Of The Attackers At Falta Police Station

The West Bengal government has stated that it will auction the property of those who attacked public property at Falta Police Station, in an effort to stall action against the destruction of public property. According to the latest reports, local law enforcement arrested 10 additional suspects, bringing the total number of individuals detained in connection with the incident to 25. The violence started in June 16, in the South 24 Parganas district, after a section of Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters started gathering before the premises to force the police to release arrested party leader Jahangir Khan.The violence erupted on June 16 in the South 24 Parganas district, where a group of Trinamool Congress supporters allegedly led by the party's Regina Bibi had gathered in front of the premises in an attempt to force the police to release Jahangir Khan.

The state administration has been directed to systematically identify, confiscate and auction the property of all those involved to complete the recovery of damages, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari told the reporters on Friday afternoon. The suspects are facing harsh legal consequences as cases have been filed under several tough laws in the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, such as anti-state activities clauses. Of the 25 people arrested to date, 12 are being detained by the police and 13 have been placed in judicial custody; police are also currently digging through social media video to try to find additional perpetrators. Additionally, Chief Minister Adhikari announced that the CID has formally taken up the investigation into the murder of BJP employee Prashanta Dey in the Bagnan region of the Howrah district and that the police station attack case has been turned over to them. A compensation package of INR 9 lakh, which includes INR 5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and INR 4 lakh from the state exchequer, has been authorised by the state government for the bereaved family. The action was taken to reaffirm the government's firm dedication to maintaining law and order.
