ICC T20 World Cup: Prema Rawat gets a chance in Team India, injured Shreyanka Patil out

Spinner Prema Rawat will replace injured Shreyanka Patil in the Indian team for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. 23-year-old Patil suffered an ankle injury while fielding in the match against Netherlands on Wednesday and has been ruled out of the tournament. According to BCCI, the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup has approved her replacement. Therefore, the Women's Selection Committee has included leg spinner Prema Rawat in the Indian team for the remaining matches of the World Cup.  

Prema, who was part of India A, took eight wickets in five matches during India's winning campaign in the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. She was also the joint-highest wicket-taker on the India A tour of Australia last year, taking seven wickets in three matches.

India's updated squad for the ongoing World Cup: Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana (vice-captain), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Bharti Fulmali, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wk), Sri Charani, Yastika Bhatia (wk), Nandini Sharma, Arundhati Reddy, Renuka Thakur, Kranti Gaur, Radha Yadav, Prema Rawat.  

Changes in India A squad

After Prema's inclusion in the national squad, the women's selection committee has made some changes to the India A squad for the series against England A. Nikki Prasad has been included in the India A T20 squad, while Minnu Mani has been included in the India A ODI squad.
