WhatsApp Web Adds Call Support; CEO Kunal Shah Sends a Message to Chrome Users

WhatsApp has made a change to the way people make calls. People can now. Get voice and video calls right from their web browser. The boss of WhatsApp, Kunal Shah shared the news on X. He made a joke about Chrome users who often have tabs open while they work. “WhatsApp calls now work in your browser. Your 47 open Chrome tabs finally have a company that’s actually useful,” Shah wrote on X, sharing a screenshot of himself on a WhatsApp call with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Alongside web-based calling support, WhatsApp has introduced a new call transfer feature that allows users to move an ongoing group call from one device to another without disconnecting. This latest update aims to offer greater flexibility for WhatsApp calls across phones, desktop computers, and browsers.

So, you want to make a WhatsApp call from your computer. Before you had to use the program on your computer to do this. Now WhatsApp says you can make and get audio and video calls on WhatsApp Web. You can even have group calls. Talk to one person at a time. The good thing is you do not need to get the special program on your computer to do this. WhatsApp web adds browser-based calling

With this update WhatsApp Web now allows voice and video calls. These calls have the end-to-end encryption that is available in the mobile app and the desktop app. The company says that users will also be able to use features. These features include screen sharing, emoji reactions, a special calls tab, full call history and favourite contacts. All of these options are available directly, from the browser. WhatsApp added that browser-based calls have no time limits or additional costs and maintain the same privacy measures as calls made from other compatible devices.

For example, you can start a group call on your phone when you are out. Then when you get home you can move the call to WhatsApp on your computer. This way you can see everything on a screen.
