Tilak Varma set to feature for India A in 3rd unofficial Test, Rishabh Pant remains doubtful
New Delhi: Team India middle-order batter is set to play in the third unofficial Test against New Zealand A, which begins on November 6 at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln. According to the Times of India (TOI) report, the selection committee wants Tilak to get some red-ball exposure, and the schedule also allows him to play in the third unofficial Test.

He will then join the ODI squad for the last two matches in Tauranga. Tilak is not included in the team for the first three ODI matches and will have no competitive match between November 2 and the fourth ODI game on November 13. He could soon be asked by the selectors to join the India A squad in Christchurch. The third unofficial Test starts on November 7 at Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln.

Bumrah leaves for NZ, Pant doubtful for third unofficial Test
Meanwhile, India’s premium will leave for New Zealand from Bengaluru on November 1. He reported to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) on October 25 for a routine assessment ahead of the third unofficial Test and the subsequent two-match Test series.
“Bumrah didn’t go to the CoE to increase his workload. It was just a routine assessment, and he has ticked all the necessary boxes before boarding the flight,” a source tracking developments told TOI.
As per the same report, Bumrah was supposed to be accompanied by Rishabh Pant to New Zealand. The wicketkeeper-batter is undergoing rehabilitation at the CoE, and his Return to Play (RTP) has been delayed. Pant remains doubtful for the third unofficial Test and will continue his recovery under the supervision of the BCCI medical team at the CoE.
