The stick of discipline on India A Team! Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, sword hanging on Tilak Varma

According to a report in ‘Sportstar’, India cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi may be fined 50% of his match fee, and captain Tilak Verma may also face action, due to his altercation with a Sri Lankan cricketer during the ongoing Tri-Nation series. Following the incidents during the match between India A and Sri Lanka A in Dambulla on Monday, Suryavanshi and Vishan Halambage have been recommended to be fined 50% of their match fees, while Verma is proposed to be fined 30%.
 

Match referee Pradeep Jayaprakash has also recommended a 20% fine on Sri Lanka A wicketkeeper-batsman Niroshan Dickwella. The action has been taken following an incident in which Suryavanshi was seen having a heated argument with Vishan Halambay and several other Sri Lankan cricketers after the end of the match. This match was a very tough match, but it ended very badly. Suryavanshi was also seen pushing Halambaj.

According to the report, since the beginning of the tournament, some Sri Lankan cricketers were sledging Suryavanshi and some of his India A teammates and often made fun of them about their performance in the IPL. Unlike senior international cricket, disciplinary sanctions in A-team matches are not enforced by the ICC. Instead, the match referee’s recommendations are sent to the BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket, and both boards are now responsible for deciding whether to confirm and implement proposed penalties.
