What is The Odyssey about?

The Odyssey, based on the ancient Greek epic of the same name by Homer, is the story of Odysseus, a warrior trying to get home to Ithaca after the fall of Troy. On his journey, he encounters dangerous creatures, supernatural forces, gods and temptations that keep getting in the way of him and his family. Throughout it all, Odysseus is intent on reuniting with his wife Penelope and son Telemachus.

Back in Ithaca, another war is raging. With Odysseus absent for years, suitors hoping to take his place have gathered around Penelope and have their eyes on his throne. Penelope, however, continues to resist their plans while waiting for her husband to return. Nolan’s adaptation turns the legendary tale into a large-scale action adventure built around war, mythology, monsters and one man’s long journey home.
