Sonam Wangchuk Refused To End His Indefinite Hunger Strike

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) announced that Sonam Wangchuk has refused to end the indefinite hunger strike. He has been facing severe pain and muscle loss, but refuses to discontinue the fast, saying the government should initiate a conversation. The group’s agitation has been going on for 25 days; however, the indefinite hunger strike has been ongoing for 17 days.

The recent health report of Wangchuk showed that he had already lost 8.5 kg since starting the fast, and his blood pressure was measured at 109/70 mm Hg. Wangchuk has been losing muscular mass and is in excruciating discomfort, according to CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke.

Dipke added that Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, called him to ask how Wangchuk was doing and to convey his serious concern for his health. Dipke also expressed his deep gratitude to Arvind Kejriwal for supporting the CJP’s protest and the march they carried on July 20, “Chalo Sansad.”

In a different tweet, Dipke mentioned that Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena, had also called him and voiced concern about Wangchuk’s fast-declining health.

According to Dipke, Thackeray supported the CJP’s planned march to Parliament on July 20 and urged Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, stating that his welfare was of the utmost concern.

Furthermore, several leaders, including senior leaders from CPI(M) Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan, had visited the site of protest. Additionally, TMC leader Mohua Mitra also expressed her concern over his health condition and asked him to end the hunger strike and continue to protest. She also mentioned that the country doesn’t want to lose him as his message has reached to the youth and has united them.
