Shehnaaz Gill reveals why she now prioritizes payment before signing films

Mumbai: Actress Shehnaaz Gill who is currently enjoying the success of her movie ‘ Ishqnama’ and has opened up about the realities of work culture and the fee actors are being paid. The actress said that she has worked on projects without charging a fee in the past but it did not earn her the respect. She said remuneration has now become a non-negotiable factor before she signs a film. She said that she doesn’t compromise and fight for the fee she believes she deserves.

In an interview with one of the leading news publications, Shehnaaz Gill said that financial compensation now plays an important role in the projects she chooses. She said that every artist should ask for what he or she deserves. She was quoted as saying, “Money is very important. It gives you respect. When I ask for what I deserve today, I sometimes get that, sometimes I don’t and sometimes it’s less than what I quote for myself. But har kisi ko apne haq ke liye ladna chahiye (Everyone should fight for one’s own right). I work really hard and I’ve been through a lot to reach the place that I’m in today,.”

The actress mentioned that she is not interested in working in the projects without being paid but has earlier done it. She said that there was a time when she did a lot of work for free. She said that she did a lot for people but that time has gone and is now fighting to get paid.

Shehnaaz Gill initially rose to fame after gaining attention for her appearance on Bigg Boss 13 and her closeness with late actor Sidharth Shukla. Cinephiles are praising her for playing the role of Nasima in Ishqnama which is currently running successfully in theaters.

Ishqnama is a Punjabi romantic drama which was adapted from the novel Hind Pak Bordernama. The movie is based on a true cross-border love story. It stars Jayy Randhawa as male lead.
