Quick- thinking student saves mid-day meal worker from severe injury

Bantwal: What began as a typical school day at the Government Higher Primary School in Narikombu turned into a moment of bravery, thanks to the quick thinking of a Class 5 student.

On Wednesday, an ordinary afternoon took a dangerous turn when an Akshara Dasoha (mid-day meal) worker was operating an electrically powered grating machine in the school kitchen.

In a sudden lapse, her finger got caught in the running machinery. As her distress cries echoed across the premises, panic set in among onlookers.

While others rushed toward her in confusion, 10-year-old Manvith, who was playing nearby, instantly sized up the situation.

Recognizing that every second counted, the young boy bypassed the crowd, sprinted directly to the power source, and shut off the main switch.

His split-second decision brought the machine to a halt, saving the worker from sustaining far more severe, potentially permanent injuries. News of Manvith’s presence of mind quickly spread across the taluk.

School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) President Ravi Anchan, along with committee members, publicly lauded the young boy for his bravery.
