Prabhas’s Fauzi teaser under fire: Internet says makers made ‘mockery’ of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose

New Delhi: Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s appearance in the Fauzi teaser has drawn sharp criticism online. The makers released the teaser on October 23, Rebel Star Prabhas’s birthday, and many viewers have objected to the way it presents certain historical figures. In one scene, Bose is seen speaking to Adolf Hitler and praising Prabhas’s character. Viewers feel real personalities should not be used to boost a hero’s impact.

Internet reactions to Fauzi teaser

Social media users did not hold back. One wrote, “What is the point of including our national hero Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s AI-generated video showing him meeting Nazis for this third-grade movie promotion??”

Another user demanded legal action. “I strongly demand that a criminal case be filed against the makers for exploiting Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to elevate and glorify Prabhas’s character. How dare anyone even think of doing something so disrespectful? They must issue an immediate public apology and take this down at the earliest,” the comment read.

A third user tagged @hanurpudi and wrote, “What a mockery you have made of Netaji @hanurpudi. He is not some side character to hype ur hero. Here he first says #Fauzi is the best spy we have and then reveals his location. Also tells that his code is based on the Gita; this is basically providing the decryption key.”

Another commented, “They got Subhash Chandra Bose to deliver a monologue just to hype up Prabhas with AI generated characters. What is happening with Telugu cinema? And this is from the same director who made Sita Ramam. Wow.”

Another commented, “In Prabhas’s Fauzi, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is this guy. Mega Cringe. Massive Disrespect. But South Indian Movies saar… Pan India Saar… World Class Saar… Bollywood is Finished Saar.”

Some loyal Prabhas fans came to the film’s defence, saying it is a fictionalised story based on a real character. Others simply said they were excited to watch it.

What the Fauzi teaser shows

The teaser runs for 2 minutes and 31 seconds and opens with Bose meeting the German dictator Hitler at the height of World War II. The meeting itself is based on true events. The teaser, however, adds a fictional touch, with Bose talking about how he infuriated the British with a code inspired by the Bhagavad Gita.

Prabhas enters next, as a lone rebel warrior. He appears to play a Kolkata-based soldier who is ready to go to any lengths to protect his motherland. Blazing guns and high-octane action sequences follow, and the character is introduced as “India’s biggest rebel soldier”.

The most striking moment comes near the end, in a voice-over by Prabhas. “Hey, you Britisher, I will draw your blood and snatch freedom from you, too,” he says. The line sets the tone for his rebellious streak and his readiness to fight for the country’s freedom.

Earlier in the day, the makers also released a poster that hints at the film’s setting. It shows a golden coin bearing the actor’s profile in a military uniform, surrounded by flames. The tagline read, “A Battalion Who Fights Alone. Most wanted since 1932.”
