Politics Makes Strange Bedfellows: Priyanka’s U Turn on Rahul.
“Politics makes strange bedfellows.” This has once again been proved in the case of Priyanka Kakkar, who has been a senior AAP leader since 2013. She has worked at the grassroots level and served as an adviser to several AAP leaders, including Raghav Chadha and Sanjay Singh. She was also the party spokesperson who never spared the LoP Rahul Gandhi, the BJP or Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her participation in debates and discussions on various media channels.

Kakkar served as the Telangana observer from 2017 to 2019 and later worked as the legal head of the South Delhi parliamentary constituency.
After 13 long years with the party, she now says that she had reached a point where she could no longer defend what she called the “indefensible.” On Saturday, she quit the AAP and joined the Congress party.
Soon after joining the Congress, she criticised the AAP, saying that the party, which had come to power promising that its leaders would not take bungalows or cars, later started using helicopters for travel and enjoying other privileges. She also expressed her displeasure over lateral entries and people without grassroots experience being given senior positions in the organisation.
Priyanka, who is a practising lawyer, said the AAP had moved away from the principles on which it was founded.
However, what is more interesting is what she had said about LoP Rahul Gandhi while she was an AAP spokesperson and how her opinion of him has changed. The contrast is striking.
In 2023, as an AAP spokesperson, she criticised the attempt to project Rahul Gandhi as the face of a united Opposition. She said the Congress should not “bet on Rahul Gandhi for the third time” and should not impose him on the Opposition.
Today, she said Rahul Gandhi was the only leader who had not shed tears in front of cameras, while describing him as strong-willed despite what she characterised as efforts to bring him down.
