Police seize drugs worth Rs 55.8 crore, arrest 39 in major crackdown

Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have seized more than 200 kg of narcotic substances worth an estimated Rs 55.8 crore and arrested 39 accused, including eight foreign nationals, during a major crackdown under the ‘Mission RISE’ and ‘Beda Bro’ campaigns.

The operation, carried out over the past 10 days, involved the Central Crime Branch and 16 police units across the city. Police said the crackdown was aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks and curbing the supply of narcotics, particularly among students and young people.

Among those arrested are eight foreign nationals and 21 persons from other states. Police also seized Rs 17 lakh in cash, 22 mobile phones and five two-wheelers allegedly used in the drug trade.

The seized contraband includes 21.641 kg of MDMA, 184.625 kg of ganja, 4.493 kg of hydro ganja, 1.065 kg of opium, 738 grams of cocaine and 25 grams of morphine.

The operations were conducted in the jurisdictions of Amruthahalli, Girinagar, Kempegowda International Airport, Yeshwanthpur, Yelahanka, Hebbal, Nandini Layout, Kadugodi, Malleswaram, Govindapura, Bagalur, Mahadevapura, Mahalakshmi Layout, Begur and Kothanur police stations.

The biggest breakthrough came in an Amruthahalli police case, in which officers seized MDMA valued at around Rs 28.8 crore. Two accused — Amani Singh from Delhi and Obam, a Nigerian national — were arrested in Delhi. According to the preliminary investigation, the accused allegedly manufactured MDMA in Delhi and supplied it to Bengaluru, where it was reportedly sold to students and local consumers. Police are continuing their investigation to trace the wider supply chain, identify financiers and determine whether more members of the inter-state and international drug network were involved. The latest operation marks one of the biggest drug seizures in Bengaluru in recent months.
