Major blow for India as Hardik Pandya unlikely to be in action before IPL 2027

New Delhi: Star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is reportedly unlikely to return to action until the Indian Premier League (IPL) next year. Hardik is currently recovering from a stress injury to the inner side of his calf and has been undergoing rehab at the BCCI CoE in Bengaluru.

As per a report in Dainik Jagran, Hardik is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI CoE in Bengaluru, and his return is dependent on progress through a phased fitness programme. He is unlikely to be back in action before the IPL 2027, which is likely to take place in March next year.

Hardik had gone to the BCCI CoE in Bengaluru for his calf stress injury after the IPL earlier this year. He was expected to return earlier this year, but his comeback was delayed after a fresh setback. As per Dainik Jagran, Pandya’s medical reports were reviewed by Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala last week.

Dr Pardiwala, who has worked with several Indian cricketers, has drawn a rehab plan for Hardik. The all-rounder is expected to begin jogging after three weeks, after which his running workload will be increased gradually for the next eight weeks. His strength training will also be stepped up cautiously to prevent additional stress to the injured area.

Hardik Pandya has already missed multiple series for India

Hardik was last seen in action for his franchise Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2026 and has since not played any competitive cricket. He last played for India in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026. The star all-rounder has already missed multiple series for India in white-ball cricket.

He missed the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan at home, followed by India’s tour of Ireland and England. He also missed India’s tour of Zimbabwe, their three T20Is against Afghanistan at home and the Asian Games. Hardik was not part of India’s recently concluded ODI and T20I series against West Indies.

He has also not been named in India’s ODI and T20I squads for their upcoming tour of New Zealand and will not feature in the two series. He is now expected to also miss the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka, which is scheduled to kick off on December 13 and the ODI series against Zimbabwe, which will get underway on January 03.
