MacBook Pro, iPad mini 8 launch soon: Expected price and key upgrades

Apple might be getting ready to bring out its MacBook Pro and iPad mini toward the end of this month. Although the company hasn’t officially said anything about the release, some reports are saying that a special event might happen in October. During that event the two devices could be shown for the time.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple is getting ready to hold an event in Los Angeles on October 27. Some other reports say that the date might instead be October 28. Apple has started sending invitations to media people but Apple has not yet made a formal announcement.

The upcoming MacBook Pro is expected to be the attraction. Apple is reportedly working on its MacBook with an OLED display and touchscreen support. The move would mark a change for the MacBook Pro range, which has traditionally relied on non-touch displays.

The iPad mini 8 is expected to receive a display upgrade with an OLED panel reportedly, in the works. The iPad mini 8, a tablet, could also offer improved water resistance.

MacBook Pro, iPad mini 8 expected price in India

Apple has not announced pricing for either product yet. However, the reported hardware upgrades could lead to prices especially for the new MacBook Pro.

The current fourteen‑inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip starts at Rs 2,99,900 in India. This version comes with twenty‑four gigabytes of RAM and a one‑terabyte SSD. If reports of a twenty per cent price increase are accurate the OLED MacBook Pro could have an estimated starting price of around Rs 3,59,880, in India.

This figure is only an estimate and should not be considered Apple’s official pricing. The final price could vary depending on the configuration and the company’s pricing strategy.

The iPad mini 8 could have a price change. It does not look like a big jump. The current seventh‑generation iPad mini starts at Rs 69,900 for the 128GB Wi‑Fi version. The next‑generation iPad mini might stay near this price. Be a little higher.

What to expect from the new MacBook Pro and iPad mini

The new MacBook Pro is said to have a screen. This could be one of the changes to Apple’s laptops, in many years. A new look might also be coming. There is not much information yet.

There is also some uncertainty about the processors. Apple might bring out an M6-powered entry-level MacBook Pro. Gurman has said that the expensive OLED models might still use the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. They might not move to M6 Pro and M6 Max.

Apple is reportedly focusing on its M7 chip family; M7 Pro and M7 Max variants are expected toward the end of 2027.

Meanwhile the iPad mini 8 is expected to combine an OLED display with water resistance. It spotted a Smart Folio accessory on Apple’s French regulatory website and it has further fuelled speculation about a new iPad mini although it does not confirm the tablet’s launch date or specifications.

For now, Apple has not officially confirmed the event, products, specifications or prices for the iPad 8. I think these details should therefore be treated as rumours until the company makes an announcement.
