KSTDC opens Ambari double-decker buses for private events

Bengaluru: Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) has decided to open bookings for its popular Ambari double-decker buses for private functions, corporate events and pre-wedding photo shoots in Bengaluru, expanding the use of the tourist attraction beyond its regular city sightseeing service.

The iconic buses, launched in January 2026 under the Hop-on, Hop-off city tourism initiative, have so far been operating on a fixed sightseeing circuit covering 26 prominent landmarks, including Ravindra Kalakshetra, Hudson Circle, Kasturba Road, Kanteerava Stadium, Cubbon Road, Vidhana Soudha and Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum.

With growing public interest, KSTDC has now decided to allow individuals and organisations to hire the buses for celebrations and special occasions. Officials said the initiative is expected to provide a unique venue for birthdays, corporate gatherings, promotional events and pre-wedding photography while generating additional revenue for the tourism corporation.

For full-day bookings, the rental has been fixed at Rs32,000 on weekdays and Rs40,000 on weekends. Private parties and events lasting up to five hours will cost Rs26,000 plus 5% GST on weekdays and Rs28,000 plus 5% GST on Saturdays and Sundays. If the booking exceeds the stipulated duration, full-day charges will be applicable.

For photography sessions, including pre-wedding shoots, the bus can be hired for two hours at Rs12,000 plus GST on weekdays and Rs16,000 plus GST on weekends. Additional hours will attract charges of Rs6,000 per ho ur on weekdays and Rs7,000 per hour on weekends.

According to KSTDC officials, nearly 20,000 tourists have availed themselves of the Hop-on, Hop-off service since its launch earlier this year. The upper deck remains the preferred choice among visitors, particularly during pleasant weather. Officials believe the new rental model will offer Bengalureans a distinctive venue for celebrations while making better use of the tourism infrastructure and enhancing the corporation’s revenue.
