Kheerthi and Sharanya share Telangana women’s chess crown after blitz tie

Hyderabad: Ganta Kheerthi and Gade Sharanya were declared joint-winners of the Telangana State Women’s Chess Championship at the Hyderabad Boat Club here on Monday after both players remained tied on 5.5 points following the final round and the blitz tiebreaker.

G Sahithya finished third, followed by Bharathkoti Sneha in fourth place and M Sevitha Viju in fifth.

Hyderabad Boat Club secretary T Amarendra Reddy and vice-president B Muralidhar Reddy presented the prizes.

Final-round results: G Kheerthi drew with G Sharanya; Bharatkoti Sneha drew with Natura Bethi; G Sahithya bt Mahadev Rushita Haju; Madhusree Duvvala drew with Chaitrasree Magham; Sevitha Viju bt M Akshara Kalyani; Neha Sanvi Chitlangi drew with K Aadya Reddy.
