Karnataka Weather: Heavy Rain Alert For Coastal And Malnad Districts

Bengaluru: The southwest monsoon has intensified over Karnataka, with several districts expected to receive rain on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts.

The weather department has also warned of winds reaching 30-40 kmph in parts of coastal Karnataka. Residents in vulnerable areas have been advised to exercise caution, particularly near water bodies and during periods of strong winds.

In the southern interior, Shivamogga district is likely to receive heavy rain at isolated places, accompanied by winds reaching 40-50 kmph. Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu districts are also expected to receive heavy rainfall at isolated locations.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre has issued a yellow alert for several coastal and Malnad districts in view of the possibility of heavy rain and strong winds.

Several districts in north interior Karnataka are also likely to receive rain. Vijayapura, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Dharwad and Gadag may receive moderate rainfall at isolated places. Bagalkot, Bidar, Haveri, Koppal, Raichur and Yadgir are also likely to receive rain in some areas.

Bengaluru is also likely to experience moderate rainfall at some places. Bengaluru Urban, Tumakuru, Davanagere, Mandya and Mysuru districts may receive rain accompanied by winds reaching 40-50 kmph.

Ballari, Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Hassan, Kolar, Ramanagara and Vijayanagara districts may also receive rainfall accompanied by winds of 30-40 kmph.

The weather department has advised people to remain alert in areas likely to experience strong winds and heavy rainfall.

Rainfall activity is expected to continue in coastal Karnataka on August 26, with moderate rain likely at many places. Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada are expected to receive further showers.

In north interior Karnataka, isolated rainfall is likely in Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag and Haveri districts. However, dry weather is expected to prevail in Bagalkot, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir.

In the southern interior, isolated rain is likely in Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu districts.

The remaining districts, including Ballari, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Tumakuru and Vijayanagara, are likely to experience predominantly dry weather on Wednesday.
