Jyotirmayee Nayak wins Indian Idol Season 16, takes home Rs 20 Lakh
Mumbai: Idol’s season 16 ended on Sunday, July 26 after around a nine months long wait. Singer Jyotirmayee Nayak from Odisha has been declared as the winner of the season. The contestants from across the country participate in the show every year. The winner of the 16th Season was Jyotirmayee Nayak. The other contestant Tanishk Shukla from Jabalpur was declared as the first runner-up while Manraj Veer Singh finished at third place.

As Jyotirmayee took home the trophy, she also received the prize money of Rs 20 lakh. She has credited her win to the cancer patients she healed through music therapy. She has secured the highest number of audience votes, and defeated fellow finalists Anshika Chonkar, Manraj Veer Singh, Myscmme Bosu, Suhail Sufi and Tanishk Shukla. The other runners-up Tanishk Shukla and Manraj Veer Singh were presented with cheques worth Rs 5 lakh each.
The result was announced in the final moments of the two-part finale, which aired on Sony Entertainment Television and streamed on SonyLIV. Jyotirmayee after winning the final said that the journey has been almost a year long. She came from Mumbai on 14th September, 2025 and won the trophy in July 2026.
She added that she had never thought about winning the prize money and will now think about where to use the earned prize money. The winner of the Indian Idol Season 16 sang Saiyaan O Saiyaan on the finale and everybody was impressed by her performance.
The winner also said that the highest point was when she got to perform on some iconic songs and managed to perform well. She added that the lowest point was when she was placed at the bottom during eliminations. She hopes to get playback opportunities in Bollywood after winning the title.
Indian Idol 16 premiered in October 2025 and ended on Sunday, July 26, 2026. The 16th season of the showl was judged by Shreya Ghoshal, Vishal Dadlani, and Badshah. The grand finale featured special guests including Usha Uthup, Udit Narayan, Papon, Kumar Sanu, Shehnaaz Gill and Urmila Matondkar.
