Joe Biden’s prostate cancer worsens: What the ‘aggressive form’ of the disease means

Shortly after he left the White House in 2025, former US President Joe Biden revealed that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. At the time, it had spread to his bones. In October last year, his spokesperson had revealed that Biden is undergoing hormone therapy and radiation treatment. Recently, in an interview with the BBC, his son Hunter Biden revealed that the cancer has metastasised further into his body, and it’s ‘very painful and debilitating in many respects.’ Prostate cancer is a disease in which cells of the prostate gland grow to form a tumour.  It’s one of the most common cancers in elderly men. Age is one of the most important risk factors of this cancer.  

Aggressive cancer
An aggressive form of prostate cancer, according to Healthline, is the one in which tumour cells are highly abnormal and grow fast outside the prostate gland as well. Generally, prostate cancers are slow-growing, with the cells residing in the body for years without affecting the quality of life. This type of cancer quickly invades nearby tissues and even bones.
