India’s Jadumani Singh dedicates win to Kargil heroes after beating Pakistan boxer at CWG 2026

New Delhi: India’s Jadumani Singh produced a dominant performance to beat Pakistan’s Sumama Rehman in the men’s 55kg Round of 16 bout at the on Sunday, July 26. Jadumani defeated his opponent 5-0 in a high-intensity clash and dedicated his victory to the Indian Army and the heroes of the Kargil War.

It was a high-octane clash at the SEC Centre in Glasgow with chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “India, India” echoing inside the stadium. With the crowd firmly behind him, a confident Jadumani let his game do the talking inside the boxing ring and comfortably eased past his opponent.

He won the contest 5-0 to book a spot in the quarterfinal and dedicated his performance to the martyrs of the Kargil War on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. “I want to dedicate this win to Kargil heroes. I want to defeat everyone and get gold for India,” Jadumani said after his victory.

Jadumani is now one win away from assuring a medal for India at the Commonwealth Games 2026. He will take on Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale in the quarterfinal of the men’s 55kg category, and a victory will confirm at least a bronze medal for the Indian boxer.

Preeti Pawar reaches quarterfinals

India’s Preeti Pawar also won her round of 16 bout against Deborah Mtenje of Malawi in the women’s 54kg category to reach the quarterfinals at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Sunday. Pawar produced a commanding display in the clash to register a dominant 5-0 victory.

The Asian Games bronze medallist will look to continue her winning run and assure herself a medal at CWG 2026 when she takes on Northern Ireland’s Nicole Clyde in the quarterfinals.
