Huge blow to AAP ahead of 2027 Punjab polls as 3 MLAs join BJP
New Delhi: In a major setback for the Aam Aadmi Party (), three Punjab MLAs joined the Bharatiya Janata Party () on Monday. They also raised slogans of ‘BJP Zindabad’ ahead of formally joining the saffron party.

The three MLAs who joined the BJP are Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, Chetan Singh Jouramajra and Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh. The leaders arrived at the BJP headquarters in Delhi earlier in the day.
‘AAP presented a very compelling vision when it arrived in Punjab’
Speaking to the media after joining the BJP, Pathanmajra said, according to ANI, “When the Aam Aadmi Party first arrived in Punjab, it presented a very compelling vision. It was precisely because of those ideas that the Aam Aadmi Party was able to form a government within such a vast political system.”
“Over time, those who spoke up and championed the cause of Punjab began to have their wings clipped. Today, Punjab is often referred to as ‘Udta Punjab’, but we all aspire to transform it into an ‘Ubharta Punjab’. AAP has pushed Punjab into a quagmire. The Aam Aadmi Party has taken on more debt than any other government, leaving Punjab in a dire state,” he added.
