From Vande Bharat praise to NEET appeal Wangchuk sends message to centre

New Delhi: Activist Sonam Wangchuk on Thursday praised Indian Railways while also making an indirect appeal to the Central government to fulfil the promises made to students during the Jantar Mantar protests over the alleged NEET paper leak. In a video shared on X Wangchuk spoke about his journey on the Vande Bharat Express from Delhi to Srinagar describing it as a wonderful experience and saying he felt proud of Indian Railways.

Wangchuk said he had left for Ladakh and chose to travel by train because it is his favourite way to travel. He said it was his first journey on the Vande Bharat train from Delhi to Srinagar and that he also wanted to see the Chenab Bridge. He called the trip memorable and said he was proud of Indian Railways. Wangchuk added that he would spend a day in Kashmir to rest before continuing to Ladakh where he hopes to recover in the fresh air and clean surroundings.

Activist seeks wider education reforms and justice for students

Wangchuk welcomed the proposed examination reforms and said he hopes the changes will not be limited to exams but will improve the entire education system. He said he was happy that the Examination Reforms Bill had been introduced in Parliament and expressed hope that it would bring wider changes in the education sector.

He also appealed to the government to fulfil the written assurances that were first given to him and later to the Cockroach Janta Party. According to Wangchuk the government had promised that no FIRs or legal action would be taken against students who joined the protests. He urged the government to honour those commitments and implement them.

Honouring promises will strengthen faith among youth says Wangchuk

He said keeping those commitments would help restore trust among the country’s youth and called on everyone to work together towards nation-building. “Doing so will help build an atmosphere of trust, especially among the country’s youth. Let us all work together to build the nation and create a stronger and greater India with renewed confidence. I will continue to stay connected with all of you,” he added.
