‘India needs a pressure group right now’: CJP announces ‘Kya Bolti Public’ campaign

New Delhi: The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Thursday said it would continue to work as a public pressure group and had no immediate plans to contest elections.

The decision came after the organisation’s core team held a two-day meeting in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. CJP founder Abijeet Dipke addressed a press conference after the meeting and shared the group’s future plans.

Nationwide public campaign

Dipke announced the “Kya Bolti Public” campaign, which will seek opinions from people across India. CJP representatives will speak to citizens about the problems they face and their views on the country’s political and social situation. “During the ‘Kya Bolti Public’ campaign, we will get to know what people think of the present situation in the country and what the issues they face are,” he said.

“For now, CJP will be a pressure group because what India needs right now is a pressure group,” he clarified. Dipke said CJP would work beyond education and raise wider issues linked to governance and democratic institutions.

Focus on institutions

“Whether it is the political system, the judiciary, the media, or the Election Commission, the reality is that people have lost faith in all these institutions,” Dipke said.

He said the group would create public pressure to restore accountability and neutrality in these institutions. He added that “the political system today, in my opinion, is in a very bad state”.

CJP will also take up unemployment as a national issue. “Unemployment is a major problem, we will make it a nationwide issue,” Dipke said. The organisation will also seek education reforms and raise concerns about the growing cost of studies. “Education has remained unaffordable since schooling. Education is used for making profits. But we want to change it,” he said.

Youth outreach planned

Dipke said young people would remain central to the campaign as 60 per cent of India’s population is below 35. He said unemployed youngsters had joined CJP’s protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi last month.

CJP had organised protests over the NEET paper leak and other alleged examination irregularities. “Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation is the biggest achievement of the students’ agitation,” he said.

The core committee also discussed expanding CJP’s presence across states and strengthening its local network. Dipke rejected speculation about CJP entering elections. He also supported students protesting against alleged examination irregularities in Jharkhand and said the organisation’s leaders could visit the state if required.
