DRDO successfully tests Pralay missile off Odisha coast, induction imminent
New Delhi: The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully flight-tested the quasi-ballistic missile ‘Pralay’ from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast at around 11.10 am on November 5, 2026.

All test objectives were fully met, according to data captured by range instruments deployed by the Integrated Test Range, Chandipur.
The missile has been indigenously developed by Research Centre Imarat, Hyderabad, in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories. Bharat Dynamics Limited, one of the development-cum-production partners, has produced the system.
The flight-test was conducted as part of user evaluation trials in the presence of senior DRDO officials, industry representatives and Defence Forces personnel. The successful test has brought the system closer to induction.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated DRDO, the Defence Forces and industry partners on the achievement. He said the missile’s advanced technologies would strengthen the military’s technological capabilities and operational preparedness against emerging threats.
Defence Secretary and Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and DRDO Chairman Rajesh Kumar Singh also congratulated the teams involved in the successful flight-test.
