India at Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2026 Highlights, Day 5: India enjoyed a successful Day 5 at the Commonwealth Games 2026, with weightlifting bringing two more medals. Gyaneshwari Yadav won silver in the women’s 53kg event after a thrilling battle with Nigeria’s Onome Didih, while Bindyarani Devi secured bronze in the women’s 58kg category. Didih and Rafiatu Lawal claimed gold in their respective events with record-breaking performances.

Sakshi Chaudhary impressed in boxing, defeating Botswana’s Lethabo Modukanele 5-0 to enter the women’s 51kg quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Putul Sonowal finished his lawn bowls campaign after a narrow defeat to Kenya’s Anwar Hamada in his final sectional match.

India has so far secured six medals overall at the Commonwealth Games 2026. The medal hunt continues late into the night with V Ajaya Babu in men’s 79kg weightlifting final, Sajan Prakash in men’s 200m butterfly final, Aryan Nehra in men’s 800m freestyle, Tejas Shirse in men’s 110m hurdles final and athletes in para athletics medal events among India’s key medal hopes after midnight.
