New Delhi: The spotlight will be on India’s star weightlifter , who headlines the country’s busy schedule on Day 4 of the. The Indian athletes will compete across multiple sporting events in Glasgow on Sunday, July 26.

She is one of India’s brightest medal hopes in the Games and will compete in the Women’s 48kg final on Sunday. The Tokyo Olympic silver medallist is aiming to add another Commonwealth gold to her illustrious career. She enters the event as the clear favourite, boasting a personal best total of 205kg that puts her comfortably ahead of the competition.

Her focus will be on executing a clean and controlled performance at the event to secure the gold. With the Asian Games less than two months away, Chanu is aiming to avoid unnecessary risks and conserve her energy for the continental event.

Her campaign comes at a crucial time for India after the country’s weightlifting squad was reduced from 16 to 11 lifters following a doping-hit build-up to the Games. India will now heavily rely on players like Chanu, Rishikanta Singh, and M. Raja to maintain the country’s dominance at the event and restore pride.
