Commonwealth Games 2026 Day 2: Full schedule of Indian athletes in action

New Delhi: India’s campaign continues on Friday, July 24, with athletes in action across gymnastics, swimming, lawn bowls and boxing, while medal hopes remain alive in para powerlifting in Glasgow. This marks India’s 19th appearance at the Commonwealth Games. The country has finished inside the top five of the medal tally at every edition since 2002 and has also secured at least 50 medals in each of the last six Games.

India’s biggest medal hopes on Friday lie in powerlifting, in which Ashok Kumar Malik, Parmjeet Kumar, Jaspreet Kaur, Suman Devi, Kasthuri Rajamani, Jhandu Kumar and Sudhir are set to compete in different weight categories as the nation looks to add to its medal tally.

In lawn bowls, Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki will look to continue their winning run following a brilliant win on the opening day. They will take on South Africa’s Thabelo Muvhango and Jacqui van Rensburg in the women’s pairs sectional round 2 match.

Putul Sonowal produced one of the biggest upsets of the opening day by beating 2023 world champion Ryan Bester of Canada. He will face Falkland Islands’ Cecil Alexander in the men’s singles sectional round 2.

India’s gymnasts will also open their campaign with Tapeshwarnath Das, Swathish KP, Tapan Mohanty and Yogeshwar Singh participating in the men’s team and individual rounds. They will also look to secure their spot in the men’s team final scheduled for later in the day. The boxing competition will also begin for India, with Jadumani Singh facing Scotland’s Aaron Cullen in the men’s 55kg Round of 32.

2:30 PM – Gymnastics
Tapeshwarnath Das, Swathish KP, Tapan Mohanty and Yogeshwar Singh begin India’s campaign in the men’s team and individual qualification rounds.

3:40 PM – Para Swimming
RVVBK Budigina competes in the men’s 100m freestyle S13 heats, with a place in the final later in the night at stake.

3:56 PM – Swimming
Srihari Nataraj takes part in the men’s 50m backstroke heats, with the semifinals scheduled later if he qualifies.

5:40 PM – Para Powerlifting (Medal Event)
Ashok Kumar Malik and Parmjeet Kumar compete in the men’s lightweight category.

7:24 PM – Para Powerlifting (Medal Event)
Jaspreet Kaur and Suman Devi feature in the women’s lightweight category.

7:30 PM – Lawn Bowls
