ChatGPT desktop app gets new voice shortcut through pet icon: Here’s how it works

New Delhi: OpenAI has introduced a new shortcut in the ChatGPT desktop app that makes it easier to access Voice mode. This will allow users to open Voice with a click of the pet image inside the desktop app. The update was announced official X account for ChatGPT and a brief demo video.

The new shortcut will allow you to switch to voice while keeping your workflow uninterrupted, the official post says. After Voice is turned on, the users can monitor the progress of the work, approve the tasks or halt the tasks while they are working on other tasks. It’s designed to improve desktop multitasking.

New pet icon shortcut opens ChatGPT Voice

The official ChatGPT account introduced the feature with the tweet: “Your pets have a new way to ChatGPT Voice.” Voice users just have to click the pet image in the desktop app, the company said. They can then follow up on the work in progress and manage tasks without interrupting their workflow.

The shortcut, as seen in the desktop version of the app, is demonstrated in a video that was posted with the announcement. There are no additional requirements for using the feature stated in the post by OpenAI.

Users respond to the new feature

The news was met with some reactions from users on X. One user responded that they’d been waiting for such a feature as easier access to Voice, that it was an improvement that had been requested.

It was announced straight from the verified ChatGPT account, making it official that the shortcut will now be included in the desktop app experience. As OpenAI rolls out more usability enhancements for ChatGPT’s desktop capabilities and voice features, it is continuing to introduce minor tweaks.
