Biden aide orchestrated COVID conspiracy by funding Wuhan Lab? Tulsi Gabbard shocked by opening new file on global pandemic
On her last day as America's Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Tulsi Gabbard released what she described as never-before-seen documents related to the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. He accused former top US health official Dr. Anthony Fauci of funding controversial research at China's Wuhan Institute of Virology and helping to hide information about the origin of the virus. Sharing a video message on Instagram, Gabbard said it is time for you to know the truth.
Fauchi gave funds for Wuhan research
At the center of Gabbard's allegations is Dr. Anthony Fauci, who led the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and later served as chief medical adviser to former US President Joe Biden. According to Gabbard, Fauci approved funding of millions of dollars of American taxpayers' money for research related to bat coronavirus at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. They claim that this funding encouraged so-called gain-of-function research. These are scientific experiments in which viruses are modified to study how they can become more infectious or dangerous. Gabbard said recently released documents show that such research was conducted with US-backed funding and was likely linked to the events that ultimately led to the global pandemic.
What is gain-of-function research?
Gain-of-function research involves mutating pathogens to better understand how diseases spread, evolve, or infect hosts. We do. Some argue that this research helps scientists prepare for future outbreaks and develop vaccines. However, some warn that modifying the virus poses significant risks if laboratory safeguards fail. The Wuhan Institute of Virology has long been at the center of international scrutiny, as Wuhan was the city where COVID-19 first emerged in late 2019.
Three-step attempt to hide the truth
Gabbard accused Fauci of planning a three-phased effort to hide the truth. Fauci funded 'gain-of-function' research in Wuhan. He worked with selected experts and intelligence officers to shift public and intelligence assessment towards the theory of 'natural origin'. Subsequently, he presented himself as the foremost expert on the pandemic and dismissed or censored other views.
What's in the documents?
Although Gabbard has described the files as 'never seen before', many of the issues raised in them have been publicly debated for years. There have been previous reports that research projects linked to the Wuhan lab had received US funding, and there has long been political and scientific debate in Washington over Fauci's role in debates over the origins of the virus. A review of the released files shows that they contain numerous internal emails and conversations between intelligence officers. However, many parts have been hidden (ie 'redacted'). Critics say that there is no concrete evidence in these documents. There is no ("smoking gun") to prove that a deliberate attempt was made to conceal the matter. The origin of COVID-19 remains one of the biggest unresolved questions of the pandemic. Some scientists believe that the virus most likely spread from animals to humans, and may have happened through Wuhan's wildlife market.
