Apple offers free AirPods with Mac purchases; here’s how to take advantage of the deal

Apple’s yearly Back to School promotion is live in India, giving eligible buyers free AirPods when they pick up select Mac models. The offer runs from July 16 through August 27, 2026, and it layers on top of Apple’s education pricing — so students and teachers are looking at savings from two directions at once.

The deal is aimed at university students, parents buying on behalf of a student, and teaching staff. Before you check out, you’ll need to confirm you’re eligible — Apple lets you do this either through its website or in person at a Retail Store.

Free AirPods with the purchase of participating Mac models

Buy a MacBook Air or MacBook Pro through Apple’s Education Store, and you get to pick one freebie at checkout — either AirPods 4 or a four-pack of AirTags. No extra charge either way.

If AirPods 4 aren’t quite enough, you can pay the difference for something better. Adding Active Noise Cancellation bumps the cost by ₹5,000, or you can go all the way to AirPods Pro 3 for ₹13,000 more. Apple pegs the total savings on this bundle at up to ₹12,900 compared to buying the accessories on their own.

Education pricing offers

The free AirPods are not the thing you save money on. Apple also gives a discount on the Mac itself if you are a student or a teacher. This means you can save a lot of money if you buy a Mac and get the AirPods.

For example the 13-inch MacBook Air M5 usually costs ₹149,900.. If you are a student or a teacher you can get it for ₹137,900. That is a savings of ₹12,000. The 14-inch MacBook Pro M5 is also cheaper for students and teachers.

How to take advantage of the offer

To get the deal you have to buy a Mac from Apple’s education store, the Apple Store app or an Apple Retail Store. You have to show that you are a student or a teacher before you can buy the Mac. Then you can choose your AirPods or pay for a better model.

Apple’s also throwing in free engraving on eligible accessories when you buy through its online store or app.

The back-to-school promotion does not cover all Apple products. Devices such as the MacBook Neo, entry-level iPad models, the iPad mini, and desktop Mac models are excluded from the offer. Eligible buyers must make their purchase before August 27, when the promotion ends.
