Alleged terrorist Hamim Mondal’s lover arrested: Arpita Sarkar apprehended in Jharkhand

New Delhi: In a major development following the arrest of suspected terror operative Hamim Mondal, Bengal STF and police forces arrested his female associate, Arpita Sarkar, from Sahibganj, Jharkhand, late Friday night. Her arrest came after intense interrogation of Hamim revealed her involvement in operational activities linked to the terror network.

According to police sources, investigators have uncovered critical details regarding the duo’s operation. Arpita Sarkar allegedly attempted to target relatives of prominent state political leaders and bureaucrats in order to extract confidential information. Upon arresting 24-year-old Hamim—a suspected operative associated with the Sajjad Bhat group of Jaish-e-Mohammed—authorities recovered detailed documents tracing the movements, public schedules, and travel itineraries of political leaders, including Suvendu Adhikari.

Sources indicate that Hamim had previously traveled to Pakistan for terror training before returning to live undetected among locals in Bengal for several years.

Investigators are currently auditing communication records, financial transactions, and contact lists to identify all individuals approached by Arpita Sarkar. Law enforcement agencies are working to determine the full extent of the network and neutralize any secondary security threats connected to the group.
