AAP councillor joins BJP, tally 140 in MCD
New Delhi: Amid the MCD ward committee elections on Wednesday, AAP councillor from Civil Lines and chairman of City-Sadar Paharganj zone, Vikas Tank, joined the BJP, raising the party’s tally to 140 in the civic body.

Taank, a youth leader from the Valmiki community, joined the BJP in the presence of state president Harsh Malhotra, Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal and party media department head Praveen Shankar Kapoor.
Malhotra said inspired by the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and swift development works in every ward since the formation of the BJP government in Delhi led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, many councillors from opposition parties have joined the BJP.
The BJP, which lost the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections in December 2022, winning 104 of the total 250 wards, has now 140 councillors in the civic body’s House.
