Rahul Gandhi Asked Youth Not To Apologise To Anyone For Raising Concerns Regarding Country’s Education System

Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP and leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha stated on Wednesday that the youth “do not need to apologise to anyone,” claiming that “they have defended the Constitution and the idea of India.”

Gandhi said this while speaking to the press outside New Delhi’s 10 Janpath. His remarks coincide with the continuing disruptions in Parliament, where the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha have been repeatedly adjourned as a result of persistent protests by members of the opposition.

He described the nation’s education system as “a flawed system, a collapsing system, a useless system” that desperately needs repair and maintained that voicing concerns about it was not illegal. “If anything, the system needs to be changed. It needs to be corrected. And that is all they were asking for,” he said.

The Congress leader went on to say that the demonstrators were peaceful and that they were being subjected to disproportionate force by the authorities. He alleged, “They were not being violent. They were not being aggressive. They were not being nasty. They were beaten, they were assaulted, and they were threatened.”

Additionally, he announced the purported coercion of students to apologise in public, calling the entire process “complete nonsense.” He remarked, “First forcing them to apologise, sending goons to their homes, sending goons into women’s homes, forcibly making them apologise, making a 15-year-old girl apologise, and then accepting that apology—that is complete nonsense. We do not accept it,” Gandhi said.
