R. Ashoka demands Priyank Kharge’s resignation over police constable exam irregularities

New Delhi: Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka has launched a sharp attack on the Congress government over alleged irregularities during the Civil Police Constable recruitment examination held across the state on Saturday, calling the incident another administrative failure and seeking the resignation of Home Minister Priyank Kharge.

In a post on social media, Ashoka alleged that the recruitment process had once again exposed the government’s inability to conduct examinations smoothly, accusing it of jeopardising the future of thousands of job aspirants.

Referring to reports from Vijayapura, he said delays in distributing question papers, confusion over OMR answer sheets and candidates walking out of examination centres reflected serious administrative lapses and negligence.

Ashoka said thousands of candidates had spent years preparing for the recruitment examination but were instead met with confusion and mismanagement. He demanded that Home Minister Priyank Kharge accept moral responsibility for the alleged failures and resign from his post.

He also urged the government to cancel the examination at the affected centres and conduct a re-examination. In addition, he called for an independent inquiry into the alleged irregularities and strict action against those found responsible.

The BJP leader further claimed that similar confusion over question papers and OMR sheets had also been reported from examination centres in Hassan and Haveri, adding that repeated reports of irregularities raised serious concerns about the transparency of the recruitment process.

Ashoka appealed to the state government to ensure justice for the affected candidates by conducting a fair investigation and taking appropriate action. The Karnataka government has not yet officially responded to his demand for the Home Minister’s resignation.
