August 2026 theatrical releases: 16 Bollywood, Hollywood, Tamil and Kannada films to watch

New Delhi: August 2026 is expected to set the box office on fire after a subdued July, with theatres gearing up for one of the busiest release calendars of the year. From big-ticket Bollywood sequels to major Hollywood titles and pan-India releases, moviegoers will have plenty to choose from over the next four weeks.

Hindi cinema will be banking on high-profile releases such as Awarapan 2 and Batwara 1947, while Kannada cinema’s ambitious Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is among the month’s biggest attractions. Hollywood, too, has lined up several releases, ensuring strong competition at the ticket window.

In all, 16 prominent films across Hindi, Hollywood, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada cinema are currently scheduled to hit theatres during August.

August 7 releases

  • DC (Tamil) – Lokesh Kanagaraj, Wamiqa Gabbi
  • Aryabhatt Ka Zero (Hindi) – Himansh Kohli, Sonnalli Seygall, Ravi Kishan

August 26 release

  • Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups (Kannada) – Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria and Huma Qureshi

August 28 releases

  • Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 (Hindi) – Anupam Kher, Ranvir Shorey, Parvin Dabas

  • The Dog Stars (Hollywood) – Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin

While the schedule looks packed, a few dates could still change before release. Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 is reportedly likely to shift from its announced August 28 slot, and Hollywood studios may also revisit their release plans depending on the box-office performance of major Indian films such as Awarapan 2, Batwara 1947 and Toxic. More Malayalam releases are also expected to be announced as the month progresses.
