Commercial LPG cylinder prices cut by over Rs 200 in Delhi, Kolkata
Businesses using commercial LPG cylinders have received fresh relief after the central government reduced the prices of 19-kg commercial cylinders by more than Rs 200 in key cities, including Delhi and Kolkata. The revised rates came into effect immediately and mark the second consecutive monthly reduction.
The latest revision comes after months of steep price increases driven by global supply concerns during the Iran conflict and the wider crisis in West Asia.
Commercial LPG cylinder prices cut by over Rs 200 in Delhi, Kolkata
Under the revised pricing, the cost of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs 202 in Delhi and Rs 209 in Kolkata.
Following the price revision, a commercial LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 2,872.50 in Kolkata, according to sources quoted by ANI.
The reduction is expected to benefit restaurants, hotels, catering businesses and other commercial establishments that rely heavily on LPG for daily operations.
Domestic prices unchanged
The government clarified that the latest reduction applies only to commercial LPG cylinders.
There has been no change in the price of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders supplied to households. Domestic consumers will continue to pay the existing rates until any further revision is announced.
This is the second straight cut in commercial LPG prices after a similar reduction made in July. The latest decrease partially reverses the sharp hikes witnessed over recent months when international LPG prices rose because of supply concerns linked to the Iran conflict and broader geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
Lower international prices and improved supply conditions have helped ease pressure on commercial fuel costs.
Government reviews fuel supplies
The price revision comes shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting in Parliament to assess India’s preparedness amid the continuing conflict in West Asia.
The nearly two-hour meeting was attended by senior ministers, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
Officials reviewed the country’s fuel supply situation, with ministries presenting updates on preparedness measures. According to government sources, there is no shortage of LPG, petrol or diesel in India despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region.
