Commonwealth Games 2026 HIGHLIGHTS, Day 9: Asmita, Harsh clinch gold medals; Sakshi becomes sixth boxer to enter finals

India at Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2026 Highlights, Day 9: Harsh Singh and Asmita Dey completed a historic double in Judo for India on Day 9 of the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. They won gold medals for the country in their respective events. Harsh and Asmita also became the first Indian male and female judokas to top the CWG podium, ending a decades-long wait for gold on the mats.

Meanwhile, boxers Preeti Pawar, Ankush Panghal, Jaismine Lamboria, Jadumani Singh and Arundhati Choudhary have secured their places in Saturday’s finals. The biggest attraction will be Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, who will compete in the men’s javelin throw final. Chopra booked his place in the medal round with a qualification throw of 79.61m and will now aim to finish on top of the podium.

However, the Indian star faces a strong field that includes defending Commonwealth champion Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, world champion Keshorn Walcott, Anderson Peters and Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage. Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh will also join Chopra in the final, giving India three medal contenders in the event.
