Explosive allegations against Itahar BDO: BJP demands investigation over alleged misuse of public funds

New Delhi: Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from the Itahar Assembly constituency in North Dinajpur have filed a formal written complaint with the local police station, demanding a full-fledged investigation and a complete audit into BDO Dibyendu Sarkar.

The complainants allege that public funds were misused for various non-official and personal expenditures, ranging from household items to private bills. Accompanied by supporters, BJP members visited the BDO office to press for a thorough financial audit of all projects executed during the Trinamool Congress regime.

Key allegations raised by BJP

• Personal expenses billed: Alleged submission of government bills for personal items including a roof swing, trolley bags, and 8 kilograms of mutton.

• Domestic maid salary: Allegations that the Rs 4,000 monthly salary of the BDO’s domestic cook/housekeeper was cleared using public funds.

• Party office expenses: Questions raised over bills exceeding Rs 2 lakh related to work associated with local MLA/party office activities.

“Over Rs 2 lakh was spent on the MLA party office under the BDO’s instructions,” claimed BJP Executive Committee member Nimai Singha. “A swing was installed at the BDO’s house, the housekeeper’s monthly salary of Rs 4,000 was paid, bills were submitted for 8 kg of mutton, and the BDO even took trolley bags.”

BDO rejects allegations

Responding to the allegations, Itahar BDO Dibyendu Sarkar completely refuted the claims. “I do not know where they got these bills from,” BDO Dibyendu Sarkar stated. “Not a single payment has been made for them. These are completely fake bills,” he said.
