CM DK Shivakumar celebrates 33rd wedding anniversary; 1993 wedding invitation goes viral

New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is celebrating his 33rd wedding anniversary with his wife Usha on July 28. The occasion has been marked by a flood of greetings from political leaders, party workers and supporters. Adding to the celebrations, the couple’s 1993 wedding invitation card has gone viral on social media, with many users sharing it and extending their wishes.

The invitation reveals that DK Shivakumar and Usha were married on July 27, 1993, at Bangalore Palace Grounds, with the ceremony taking place between 9:45 am and 10:25 am during an auspicious Kanya Lagna muhurta. The invitation also notes that Shivakumar was already serving as the MLA from Sathanur Assembly constituency at the time of his marriage.

Wedding card sparks nostalgia online

The resurfaced invitation has attracted widespread attention online. Many social media users described it as a reminder of cherished memories, while others commented that such moments become even more meaningful with time.

DK Shivakumar and Usha have three children—daughters Aishwarya and Abharana, and son Akash.

Their elder daughter, Aishwarya, married Amartya Hegde, son of the late Cafe Coffee Day founder V.G. Siddhartha and Malavika Krishna, and grandson of former Karnataka Chief Minister S.M. Krishna, on February 14, 2021.

In May 2026, the couple welcomed a baby girl, making DK Shivakumar a grandfather. The wedding anniversary has therefore become an even more special occasion for the family this year.
