Bulgaria eyes Indian film industry as its next big opportunity

India’s growing film industry is set to make more inroads in Bulgaria, which has positioned itself as one of Europe’s most attractive destinations for movie production. Offering a mix of affordability, reliability, and incentives, Bulgaria is inviting Indian producers to take advantage of its modern film studios, diverse landscapes, and rich cultural heritage.

Todor Lazarov Juji, founder of TL Production and producer and line producer for Bulgaria’s RRR, says that Bulgaria is not only a great place for filmmakers to shoot spectacular backgrounds but also a reliable partner for filmmakers at all stages of production, from financing to post-production.

Bulgaria offers an affordable country with a 25% cash rebate for eligible productions, one of the lowest corporate tax rates in Europe, and a variety of incentives for filmmakers. The country also offers modern equipment and infrastructure for filming, plus an established pool of international crews and professionals. Eastern European country can provide the required equipment and infrastructure for shooting, including medieval castles, Roman ruins, mountainous landscapes, forests, Black Sea coastlines, and cosmopolitan cities.

Moreover, Juji has opened Tod Ash Chapterhouse, his second chapter house in India, with filmmaker Ashish Ganeshan. The two are collaborating on an upcoming superhero film, some aspects of which will take place in Bulgaria.
