Ramayana advance booking report: Ranbir Kapoor film crosses Rs 100 crore worldwide, can it beat RRR?

New Delhi: The excitement around Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One is translating into impressive advance booking numbers, with the and Yash starrer crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in worldwide pre-sales just two days before its theatrical release. The film has now recorded approximately Rs 105 crore in worldwide advance bookings, putting it among a select group of Indian films to achieve the milestone before hitting theatres.
The latest figures suggest that the film has picked up considerable momentum in its final days before release. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Ramayana added more than Rs 20 crore to its domestic advance bookings in the preceding 24 hours alone. With bookings gathering pace in India and overseas markets, the makers are now looking at the possibility of a massive opening, potentially putting the film in the same conversation as blockbusters such as RRR and Baahubali 2.
Ramayana advance booking report
The domestic performance has been particularly encouraging. Of the Rs 58 crore collected through advance bookings in India, approximately Rs 27 crore has come from the opening day itself. The second and third days have together contributed another Rs 25 crore in gross pre-sales, indicating that audiences are not limiting their interest to the first-day shows.

The film has also sold nearly 15 lakh tickets across India, according to the latest report. Its screen count has crossed 5,000, with more than 1,500 screens being added in just 24 hours.
Why Ramayana advance bookings picked up pace in final days?
While the film witnessed a strong response when advance bookings first opened on Dussehra, the initial excitement was followed by a relatively slow phase.
One of the reasons was the limited availability of shows, particularly in single screen theatres and smaller centres. For several days, the Hindi version had a wider booking window, while many theatres were yet to open their shows.
The delay was linked to discussions between the film’s distributors and exhibitors over theatrical revenue sharing terms. Dharma Productions, which is handling distribution in the Hindi-speaking market, was reportedly seeking a higher share of the box office revenue, leading to a stalemate with exhibitors.
The situation was eventually resolved last week, allowing more theatres to open bookings. The addition of screens appears to have given the film’s advance sales a significant push.
Premium formats give Ramayana another boost
Another interesting aspect of Ramayana’s advance booking performance is the response to premium cinema formats. IMAX, 4DX and other premium screening options are contributing a substantial share of the film’s pre-sales despite accounting for a relatively small proportion of available shows.
According to Sacnilk, premium formats generated approximately Rs 4.74 crore in domestic advance bookings, including blocked seats, from just 360 shows. This represented nearly 23% of the tracked domestic advance gross at the time of that report, despite these formats accounting for less than 4% of available shows.
IMAX 3D has emerged as a major contributor within this segment, generating around ₹3.46 crore from 157 shows. The average ticket price for these screenings was approximately Rs 1,163, compared with around Rs 434 for conventional 3D shows.
Ramayana’s overseas advance booking
The international market has played an equally important role in pushing Ramayana’s worldwide pre-sales past the Rs 100 crore mark. North America, in particular, has emerged as a major contributor. The film is scheduled to have paid preview screenings there on November 4, a day before its worldwide theatrical release.
According to Sacnilk, overseas advance bookings have reached $5 million, with more than $1.5 million coming from the US paid previews alone. The film also witnessed a 27% jump in North American preview bookings in the 24 hours following its Los Angeles world premiere. The response has strengthened expectations around its international opening, especially given the scale of the project and its release across multiple markets.
Can Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana challenge Dhurandhar 2 and RRR?
Films such as Baahubali 2, RRR, Pushpa 2 and Dhurandhar 2 have set major benchmarks in advance sales and opening-day collections. Ramayana is now entering that conversation, although its actual box-office performance will depend on audience response after release.
The North American paid-preview numbers are also attracting attention. Sacnilk reported on November 2 that Ramayana had sold more than 50,000 tickets for its November 4 US previews, moving ahead of estimated preview ticket benchmarks associated with several major Indian releases, including RRR and Baahubali 2. Dhurandhar 2 remained the next major benchmark in that comparison.
However, matching a preview ticket benchmark does not automatically mean breaking a film’s opening-day collection record. The final numbers will depend on ticket prices, show availability, occupancy and the response across different markets.
Ramayana: Cast, release date and more
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part One is a two-part cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic, produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
The film features a star-studded cast, with Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi portraying Sita, Yash appearing as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol essaying the role of Lord Hanuman.
The ensemble also includes several actors in important supporting roles, adding to the scale of the ambitious project.
The first instalment is scheduled to release worldwide on November 5, 2026, while the second part is planned for Diwali 2027. The film will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
Sony Pictures is handling international distribution outside India, while Dharma Productions is overseeing distribution in the Hindi-speaking market. The film is also planned for a worldwide IMAX release.
