The first song from the much-anticipated Mohanlal-starrer ‘Athimanoharam’, directed by Tharun Moorthy, has been released. Featuring Mohanlal and Meera Jasmine, the video song offers a glimpse into the lighter moments shared by the two characters. The portions featuring the actors hint at a film that balances its police procedural backdrop with personal relationships. The song was shot across several locations, including Thodupuzha, Kochi, Sabarimala, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
The film sees Mohanlal playing Loulajan, a sub-inspector, with the narrative exploring different facets of his professional and personal life. Meera Jasmine plays the female lead, marking her reunion with Mohanlal as his onscreen pair after several years. Their pairing is among the interesting aspects of the film, particularly as the song offers a glimpse of their on-screen chemistry.
‘Athimanoharam’ also marks the reunion of the successful Mohanlal-Tharun Moorthy combination following the blockbuster success of ‘Thudarum’. This has naturally placed the film among the most anticipated Malayalam releases of the year. With a police officer at the centre of the story, it remains to be seen how Tharun Moorthy approaches the character and the situations that shape his personal and professional world. The song, titled ‘Sundara Ravanan’, is rendered by MG Sreekumar, with lyrics penned by BK Harinarayanan and music composed by Jakes Bejoy.
‘Athimanoharam’ is a big-budget production by Aashiq Usman under the banner of Aashiq Usman Productions. The film features an ensemble cast comprising Lalu Alex, Manoj K Jayan, Jagadeesh, Irshad, Sudheesh, Pramod Veliyanad, Sajeevan, Sreenath Babu, Kiran Peethambaran, Viji Vishwanath, Bhama Arun and Prarthana.
The screenplay is written by Ratheesh Ravi, known for films such as ‘Ishq’, ‘Alappuzha Gymkhana’ and ‘Maharani’. Shajikumar is the cinematographer, while Vivek Das handles editing and Vishnu Govind is in charge of audiography. Gokul Das is the art director. Ronex Xaviour handles makeup, while Mashar Hamza is the costume designer.
Binu Pappu serves as co-director, with Mirash Khan as chief associate director and Afnas and Mohith Krishnan as associate directors. Amal C Sadar is the still photographer, Jomon Joy is the production manager, Essan is the Chalakkudy production executive and Sudharman Vallikkunnu is the production controller. ‘Athimanoharam’, distributed by Central Pictures, is slated for a theatrical release across Kerala on December 24. Yellow Tooth handles the publicity design, while Obscura Entertainment is in charge of digital marketing.
