BJP plans nationwide Padayatras to counter opposition’s Nov 1 rally; Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath to join
New Delhi: The BJP is preparing a nationwide campaign of foot marches in November to counter the opposition’s allegations over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The campaign comes ahead of the INDIA bloc’s ‘Save the Vote, Save the Country’ rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1.

Several senior BJP leaders including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are expected to participate in the marches across the country.
The BJP has named its campaign ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’. Through padayatras, public meetings, press conferences and other outreach programmes, the party plans to challenge the opposition’s claims about voter list revisions and explain its position to the public.
Yogi Adityanath, other leaders to join campaign
Yogi Adityanath will lead a padayatra in Lucknow on November 1 while Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to lead a march in Shimla. Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis are also expected to participate in events in different cities.
The BJP plans to conduct the first phase of its campaign until November 5, followed by a second phase from November 11 to 30.
Amit Shah to lead marches in Hyderabad and Karnal
Amit Shah is scheduled to participate in a padayatra in Hyderabad on November 2, a day after the opposition’s rally in Delhi. He will then join another march in Karnal, Haryana on November 5.
Telangana BJP president N Ramachandra Rao announced the Hyderabad programme and accused the Congress of spreading misinformation about the SIR process. He also challenged Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to visit his village, Kondareddypalli and examine the voter list.
Rao asked Congress ministers to identify at least 10 voters whose names had been deleted from the electoral rolls. He also said eligible voters could apply to have their names restored.
The Karnal march will begin at 10 am in Sector 12 and conclude at Mahatma Gandhi Chowk. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar are expected to attend the event.
Haryana BJP president Dr Archana Gupta reviewed preparations for the march on October 25 including the route, security arrangements and deployment of party workers.
Opposition steps up pressure over SIR
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has called the November 1 rally to raise concerns over alleged vote theft and demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The opposition is also seeking a halt to the SIR process. With both sides planning public campaigns, the dispute over electoral rolls is set to remain a major political flashpoint in the coming weeks.
