30 gold, 35 silver, and 49 bronze: India end Asian Para Games 2026 campaign with record medal tally
New Delhi: The Indian contingent concluded its campaign on Friday, October 23, with a record-breaking medal haul at the continental event. India finished with 114 medals, including 30 gold, 35 silver and 49 bronze. Although one day still remains in the event, no Indian athletes will be in action on October 24. On the last day of the campaign, India clinched nine gold medals, which is their highest single-day haul in the ongoing edition, with top finishes in archery, shooting, badminton and athletics.

India have overtaken their previous edition medal count of 108 medals, which included 27 gold, 32 silver and 49 bronze. The Indian contingent had originally won 111 medals, but three were removed due to doping charges against Neeraj Yadav and Parveen.
The sensational show by the Indian athletes in Aichi Nagoya has exceeded all the expectations of fans and officials. The contingent was significantly smaller than the one sent to the previous edition. A total of 168 para athletes travelled for the 2026 Games, compared to 309 at the Hangzhou edition.
As usual, Para Athletics secured more than half of the medals in the tally, winning a total of 65 medals, including 22 gold, 19 silver, and 24 bronze medals. The performance of the Indian para athletes is better than the previous edition, where they had won 53 medals in total (three medals were stripped off).
Para Badminton won the second-most medals at the continental event, including three gold, five silver and eight bronze. However, their medal count is five less than the previous edition, where India had won 21.
The Para swimming team had claimed only one medal last time but secured 11 medals in the 2026 Games, including three silver and eight bronze. Para TT athletes had won only two bronze in the last edition but clinched seven bronze medals this time, which is a significant improvement from the 2023 Games.
In para-archery and para-shooting, India recorded similar performances to the previous edition, winning six and five medals, respectively, compared to seven and six medals in 2023.
