Sunny Deol’s Suryaa faces IMA objection: Why doctors’ body wants Centre to review the film
New Delhi: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has raised objections to upcoming film Suryaa: Ant Se Aarambh Tak, asking the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry to review its portrayal of doctors and violence against healthcare workers.

In a letter to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the association called for an impartial review of the film and requested appropriate action under the law, including corrective measures if required. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on November 20.
Why IMA has raised concerns about the film?
According to the report by India Today, the IMA said the film’s promotional content raised concerns about how corruption in the medical profession is presented. It also objected to scenes involving physical attacks on doctors, nurses and other hospital staff, particularly if such acts are shown as justified.
The IMA has asked the authorities to examine the film’s content and seek suitable changes from its makers to address the concerns. It has also requested that a ban or other action be considered if justified under the law.
The association warned that these portrayals could affect public trust in doctors and create further safety concerns for healthcare workers. It also said allegations of misconduct should be investigated and dealt with through legal and disciplinary processes, rather than being used to create a negative impression of the entire medical community
The association clarified that its objections were not intended to shield doctors involved in wrongdoing. Instead, it said the concerns were about protecting healthcare workers and maintaining trust between doctors and patients.
